In this 4-day intensive workshop, participants will dive in more deeply to work further on how to communicate well through public reading and speaking. They will be facilitated to become significantly more proficient and at ease with the specialized soft skill of public presentation.
They will learn how to approach the written text and prepare it for public reading so that listeners will be able to receive and retain the information. Participants will also practice how to connect with the audience through the effective use of breath, sound, punctuation, spacing, eye contact, deportment, etc.

What is Public Speaking?
Public Speaking is a specific form of communication where a person goes 'live' before a larger group of people and conveys key information to them.
Public Speaking is not just about being the emcee for a famous event like hosting the annual Oscars. It actually takes place in a wide variety of settings, and is a worthwhile soft skill to have.
Here are some examples of when good public speaking skills are needed:
- when asked to give a talk on a topic you know a lot about,
- when you are asked by the bride or groom to give a speech at their wedding,
- when the boss asks you to say a 'few words' for your long-time colleague at his/her retirement party,
- when the extended family is about to have dinner at Christmas, and you are expected to say something festive and encouraging to everyone,
- when your child asks you to come into school for Career Day to present what you do to his/her classmates,
- when you and your friends are about to go out and perform covers and some of your original music at a restaurant or music festival,
- when you win first prize in a local baking competition and are asked to say a few words to the local newspaper,
- when giving a presentation on the viability of launching a new business project in partnership with your international sister company who may or may not be interested
- when hosting an online event via webcam to many people, such as through Eventbrite, Zoom, and GotoMeeting.
In short, public speaking is much needed in the educational sector, whether as a student or teacher (K-12, undergrad, postgrad). It is also required in the different sectors of business and commerce. Finally, it is easily identified in the sectors of entertainment, politics, sports and other public activities such as vlogging.

In this online 3-part series, participants will learn about the two aspects of public speaking:
a) good-quality content
b) strong delivery
The learning space is a highly interactive yet safe one, where participants will spend time developing solid content, as well as learning to implement essential techniques that will result in good eye contact, 'professional yet friendly' vocal delivery, calm, stable physical posture, and that extra 'finishing touch' to reach your audience and make your presentation unforgettable.
